How common communications headsets and ear protection interface with our adapter

Our EXFIL® Peltor™ Headset Adapters and EXFIL® Peltor™ Quick Release Adapters are compatible with all Peltor™ ComTac™ systems (including ComTac™ models III through VI and the Peltor™ Sport Tactical 500) as well as a variety of other brands.

One of the questions we most frequently welcome in our inbox is whether a specific brand or model will interface with a Team Wendy helmet. Here, we address the compatibility of the tactical communications headsets and ear protection models we’re most often asked about.

And while you’re checking whether your comms will work with our Peltor™ helmet mount, also make sure you have the right adapter for your accessory rail system: The EXFIL® Peltor™ Quick Release Adapters are compatible with the EXFIL® Rail 2.0, EXFIL® Rail 3.0, EXFIL® SAR Rail and M-216™ Rail systems, while the EXFIL® Peltor™ Headset Adapters are compatible with the EXFIL® Rail 2.0 only.

Note that if your comms headset has a headband, the headset must be fully disassembled from the headband before installation onto the Peltor™ adapter. This may include irreversible changes, such as removing a cable from a sewn channel on the headband (which is also relevant to electronic earmuffs). Take care not to cut any wires when cutting out the headband fabric!

Bose A20 Aviation Headset

The Bose A20 Aviation Headset is compatible with Team Wendy Peltor™ adapters when used in conjunction with the Stirrup Adapters from our friends at Sky Cowboy Supply Company. Their DIY Helmet Kit page includes an installation manual for how the two adapters interface.

David Clark DC One-X Series

David Clark DC One-X Series headsets are also compatible with the addition of the Sky Cowboy Stirrup Adapters.

Howard Leight

The Howard Leight Impact Pro, Howard Leight Impact Sport, Howard Leight Impact Sport BOLT and Howard Leight passive earmuffs all check yes. However, the Howard Leight Impact series requires removal of the black mounting posts at the ends of the metal wires on the EXFIL® Peltor™ adapters. The black mounting posts can come off with a firm pull; the wires on the adapters can then be inserted into the attachment points on the muffs.

MSA Sordin

More yeses: The MSA Sordin Supreme, MSA Sordin Supreme Pro and MSA Sordin Supreme Pro-X all work with our Peltor™ adapters. Any models that have the metal wire pictured below, such as the Sordin Supreme Pro, also require the SARA Adapters from Unity Tactical.

Ops-Core

The Ops-Core AMP® and RAC headsets are not compatible with the EXFIL® Peltor™ adapters. Instead, the EXFIL® Adapter for the Ops-Core AMP® Communication Headset allows for tool-free attachment of the Ops-Core AMP™ onto the EXFIL® Rail 2.0 and EXFIL® Rail 3.0.

The EXFIL® Peltor™ Quick Release Adapter Back Plates also allow you to convert another Peltor™ helmet mounting system such as the Peltor™ ARC Rail Adapter for installation on the EXFIL® Rail 2.0, EXFIL® Rail 3.0, EXFIL® SAR Rail and M-216™ Rail systems..

OTTO NoizeBarrier®

To mount the OTTO NoizeBarrier® Range SA or NoizeBarrier® TAC, look to the OTTO NoizeBarrier® Team Wendy Helmet Mount Kit rather than the EXFIL® Peltor™ mount.

TCI Liberator

The TCI Liberator II and III are both compatible with the EXFIL® Peltor™ adapters and also require the Unity Tactical SARA Adapter.

Walker’s

The list keeps growing: Walker’s electronic and passive earmuffs work with our Peltor™ adapters. Like the Howard Leight Impact series, you’ll need to pull the black mounting posts off the Peltor™ adapters and insert the wires into the attachment points on the muffs.

The design and technology for tactical communications headsets is always evolving, and new gear is constantly hitting the market. If you’d like to inquire about a comms set or ear protection not included here or an upgraded version of one of these models, send an email to info[at]teamwendy[dot]com or shoot us a private message on social media.
